Oregon received a huge addition to the 2023 recruiting class on New Years Day for new coach Dan Lanning as four-star cornerback Cole Martin pledged to the Ducks on CBS Sports HQ. Martin has been connected to several Pac-12 schools during his recruiting, so this is a huge win for the freshman Ducks coach in the 2023 cycle.

Martin ranks in the top 10 cornerbacks and top 100 prospects in the 2023 category. He has long been on the recruiting radar, carrying two offers of FBS scholarships before his high school career began. He is the son of Demetrice Martin, a former Michigan State Conference cornerback, who has been an assistant coach of the Pac-12 since 2009 with stops in Washington, UCLA, Arizona and Colorado. However, he was recently hired by the Lanning Oregon team.

The hiring of Demetrice Martin changed Martin’s hiring forecast and made Oregon’s choice plausible when the news broke. Now, the two Martins will join Lanning and the rest of the Oregon football program to try and continue to strengthen the 2023 Class with more top-notch talent.
