Welcome to “Good Morning, Illini Nation,” your daily dose of college basketball news from Scott Richey, writer and AP Top 25 voter. It will offer information on Brad Underwood’s team every morning:
You can read about Trent Frazier in today’s News-Gazette, Friday January 14th. Also here at IlliniHQ.com a little later this morning when the story is published. Like most things I write, material is left on the cutting room floor. Not everything can be – or must be – more than 1000 words.
So here are some of Brad Underwood’s comments on Frazier that didn’t make it into the story (which you should also read … thanks in advance):
When Frazier resumes a match offensively
“It’s more of a mentality. First, he has the physical tools to do it. We’ve seen that. Trent was 1 of 7 before (his personal 11-0 run against Maryland). That doesn’t mean anything to Trent. . Trent has this unique ability to absolutely step up and forget about what happened and the next move. Sometimes I have to do a better job pushing his buttons and sending stuff to him and getting him going. Trent always goes. do what is asked of him. He’s I’m always going to lead the game we call. Sometimes I have to do a better job calling his number to put it on those. “
When Frazier is on a radiator
“I try not to look at him. I try to keep running, it pays off for him. It’s also quick with Trent. He’s that instant. He throws one and he finds a rhythm. is a guy that I have to keep trying to go sometimes because I know he can. “
