Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel feud: Here’s a short history

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel are not friends. They haven’t seen each other for years. In the last wave of hostilities, Johnson strongly rejected Diesel’s invitation to return to the Fast and Furious franchise and accused his former co-star of “manipulation” by bringing in his children (i.e. from Diesel) and Paul Walker, the late actor who was one of the main actors in the series.

In November, Diesel shared a photo of their characters from The Fate of the Furious on Instagram and told his “little brother” Johnson that “the time is right.” He added that he promised Pablo (Vin Diesel’s nickname for Paul Walker) that he would make the best Fast & Furious finale.

“I say this for love… but you have to introduce yourself, don’t leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play,” Diesel continued.

Johnson, in an interview with CNN, said: “I said [Diesel] directly that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm but cordial with my words and said that I would always support the cast and always support the success of the franchise, but that there was no way I would return, ”he said. he declares.

He added, “Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he was raising his children in the post, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out. We talked about it months ago and we clearly got along. “

Johnson entered the franchise with Fast Five in 2011 as an agent of the Diplomatic Security Service. He reprized the role in Fast & Furious 6 in 2013, Furious 7 in 2015, and The Fate of the Furious in 2017.

Fans weren’t sure what was going on behind the scenes. We got the first whiff of the star differences when Johnson shared a very revealing Instagram post. And the quarrel became public. The now deleted post read: “My female co-stars are still amazing and I love them. My male co-stars are a different story though. Some behave like standing men and real professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too fat to do anything about it anyway. Candy a ** es. When you watch this movie next April and it looks like I’m not playing in some of these scenes and my blood is legitimately boiling, you’re right.

Later, speaking to Vanity Fair, Johnson said that while he meant what he said, he regretted posting it on a social media platform. “It caused a firestorm. Yet quite interesting …[it was] as if each member of the crew found their way to me and quietly thanked me or sent me a note. But, yeah, it wasn’t my best day, sharing that. I shouldn’t have shared this. Because at the end of the day, it goes against my DNA. I don’t share things like that. And I deal with that kind of bull ** t away from the public, ”said the superstar.

Speaking of a subsequent reunion with his former co-star, Johnson said, “He (Diesel) and I had a great conversation in my trailer, and it was from that conversation that it really became clear that we’re two separate ends of the spectrum. ”And agreed to leave it there.

While Johnson declined to do F9, he starred in the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff film alongside Jason Statham.

Earlier in 2021, Vin Diesel said the reason for the feud between them was due to the “hard love” he gave Johnson to bring out his best performance.

In an interview with Men’s Health, Diesel said, “He was a difficult character to play, the character of Hobbs. My approach at the time was a lot of hard love to help get this performance where it needed to be. As a producer to say, “Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, the viewers, to see his character as someone they don’t know. “- Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks. It’s something I’m proud of, this aesthetic. It took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes at that point I could give a lot of hard love Not feliniesque, but I would do whatever I had to do to get performance in anything I produce.

Responding to the comments, Johnson told Vanity Fair, “Part of me feels like there’s no way I’m honoring any of these bulls ** t with a response. But here is the truth. I walked around the block several times. Unlike him, I did not come from the world of the theater. And, you know, I grew up different and I was raised differently. And I come from a completely different culture and environment. And I embark on each project by giving the maximum. And if I sense that there are things that need to be fixed, managed and maintained, then I do. And it is that simple. So when I read that, like everyone else, I laughed. I laughed a lot. We all laughed.
