New Yorkers complain they waited more than a week for test results from the two companies
Two letters follow similar letters to LabQ, Labworq, Sameday Health and ClearMD Health
NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James yesterday issued two warning letters to two companies facilitating testing for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – EZ Test NY (a collection center based in Brooklyn) and Keep Health Safe (a Fort Lee, New Jersey collection center) – for failing to meet promised turnaround times for test results. Both companies have testing sites throughout New York City where they advertise delivery of results within 24 hours (EZ Test NY) or within 48 to 72 hours (Keep Health Safe), but both companies did. wait clients more than seven days to get results. , with a few complaints to the Attorney General’s Office (OAG) detailing wait times of up to 11 days. Both letters inform both companies that New York law prohibits false advertising and directs companies to immediately update their websites and any postings on test sites to accurately reflect how long individuals can wait. to wait before receiving COVID-19 test results.
“Across town labs and collection centers continue to make false promises about turnaround times for COVID-19 test results when there is no way for them to actually deliver on those promises.” , said Attorney General James. “EZ Test NY and Keep Health Safe must both immediately stop their false advertising and give New Yorkers realistic turnaround times for COVID-19 test results. To wait longer than 11 days when the results were promised in 24 hours is totally unacceptable. We call on both companies to immediately update their websites and signage and let patients know realistic time frames within which they will receive results. Positivity rates have skyrocketed due to Omicron and the holiday gatherings, so any business performing COVID-19 testing should do so with realistic deadlines. Any New Yorker who continues to see false claims about COVID-19 test turnaround times is encouraged to immediately file a complaint with my office. “
In addition to warning EZ Test NY and Keep Health Safe to update their websites and flagging and ask their employees to provide specific information regarding turnaround times, letters issued by Attorney General James ask two companies to contact all of their customers who are currently awaiting COVID-19 test results to let them know when they can realistically expect to receive those results.
Yesterday’s letters follow four separate letters Attorney General James sent last month to LabQ, Labworq, Sameday Health and ClearMD Health demanding that companies take similar steps to update their websites and reporting, and to inform consumers of realistic wait times for COVID-19 test results.
Attorney General James is asking any consumer who believes a lab or other testing center is making misleading claims about turnaround times for COVID-19 test results to file an online complaint with the Attorney General’s Office against Fraud and Consumer Protection or call the office at 1-800-771-7755.
